“A New Deal for the City” Economic Development Summit
When: Thurs, July 8, 2010: 3:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Where: SF Lighthouse Church, 1337 Sutter Street @ Van Ness, San Francisco
What: Join community and worker organizations in building a progressive agenda to protect and expand economic opportunities for all San Franciscans. This will be an important day on the road to the “New Deal for the City” Community Congress in August 14-15 – with the goal to develop a locally-actionable platform that we’ll encourage candidates for Supervisor and Mayor to support. The public sector has a critical role as a major economic driver, with the responsibility to lead the city’s economy. We will discuss proposals for revenue and city budget reform that prioritize front-line workers, a municipal bank and city enterprises, labor standards, workers centers and community jobs programs, green workforce and urban agriculture, arts and cultural economies, light-industrial back streets businesses and worker cooperatives. Another San Francisco is possible!
Information and RSVP: The event is free, but please let us know how many will be attending, and if you have childcare needs, by July 2: firstname.lastname@example.org.
